Why is my gift necessary?

The Jaguars Athletics Department pays scholarship costs for over 200 student-athletes to the many different academic colleges at IUPUI.  For the 2010-2011 academic year, the department will pay the university $2 million for these grants-in-aid. These realities create a significant need for private contributions.

Your investment in the Jaguars Athletics Club allows us to develop a well-rounded student-athlete while instilling core academic, social, and athletic values.

Your Jaguars Athletics Club contribution at work

Any charitable contribution automatically makes you a member of the Jaguars Athletics Club, an organization that exists to support the scholarships and academic service expenditures of IUPUI's student-athletes.

Imagine the difficulties of trying to finance tuition, books, and tutors, while studying hard in the classroom and practicing equally as hard everyday. These are some of the demands faced by our student-athletes and thanks to the generosity of members like you, we can help manage these responsibilities and prepare them for life after graduation. We make the dream of excellence in sports and academics a reality.

Other benefits include a weekly Jaguars email; and special event invitations.

When does the Jaguars Athletics Club membership run?
Your membership year runs from July 1 through June 30 of the following year. Renewals are processed shortly before the anniversary date of when you initially made your contribution. Please ensure that you at least pledge your gift level before the beginning of basketball season to establish your priority level for season ticket seating purposes.

Where does my contribution go?
Money generated through the Jaguars Athletics Club supports athletic scholarships at IUPUI for student-athletes in all 14 sports as described above.  Contributions are managed by the IU Foundation. Annually, philanthropic gifts are carried over to the appropriate scholarship budgets for the department.

Is my gift tax deductible?
All contributions to the Jaguars Athletics Club are considered gifts to IUPUI and are credited at full value for the purpose of the donor's gift record at IUPUI. Your gift is deductible for income tax purposes as allowed under federal and state tax regulations. Please consult your tax advisor for complete details and further clarification.

Volunteers are instrumental to our success as an athletics program by providing generous gifts of time, talent, and expertise. Volunteering opportunities include helping peers remain connected to the IUPUI Jaguars Athletics program in meaningful ways, encouraging others to volunteer support, and soliciting financial participation throughout all areas of the central Indiana community and beyond.
